We look forward to the beginning of a new summer season at Marineland this 2009 year. Marineland re-opens on May 16th, 2009

Welcome

Slipstreams is your number one site on the net for information on the cetaceans (whales and dolphins) of Marineland located in Niagara Falls Ontario, Canada. Marineland is one of two Marine themed parks in Canada, the other being the Vancouver Aquarium. It is however the only marine park in Canada that holds captive Orcas (also known as Killer Whales).

Marineland opened in 1961 and is owned by John Holer. Marineland was originally named Niagara Game Farm, then Niagara Marineland and Game Farm, Marineland and Game Farm and then finally when the main attraction "Kandu" the orca arrived the name was left to just Marineland. Marineland has thrill rides, along with their orca, beluga whale, dolphin, seal lion, bear, and other land mammal exhibits. Marineland also holds the record for the most beluga whales in one exhibit in the world. MLC's slogan is "Everyone Loves Marineland."

If you have any questions about Marineland, or captive cetaceans in general click here, I'll try my best to answer or find the answers for you.

Also be sure to check out and join our fantastic forum community by clicking here! If you are interested in captive orcas world wide visit Orca Oasis, an excellent resource of factual information.

After a successful run for a couple of years Slipstreams went on a bit of hiatus. I lost interest, didn't have as much time and couldn't keep up on the maintaince this site demanded. Now I am back and want to keep the site as up to date as much as possible for the 2009 season.
